One thing that you do a lot of is push the contrast which results in some loss of the highlights. While that is sweet for your clients, judges tend to hit pretty hard for it. You need to find that fine line of high contrast and tons of details in the highlights and shadows. The other thing you may want to remember is that they hit these prints with 2 - 250 watt lights at 45% degree angles so if they are close to blown out in the highlights just looking at them with normal lighting, then with the actual judges lights they will be washed.
