Loading actions

Unzip your action file

Copy your action file into your adobe photoshop program folder under presets/actions

Open Photoshop and go to your actions palette (if it’s not up already, go to window, and click on actions)

In the upper right corner of your actions palette, there is a little button that opens the actions menu, click that then select load actions

Point it to your action file that you pasted in your adobe photoshop program folder under presets/actions

Then click load and it will place all of the action set in your actions palette

Running actions

First open up the photo you want to edit, then go find an action you want to run

Click on the action to highlight it and at the bottom of the action screen hit the play button

It will then run through a bunch of edits and settings applied to your photo

If desired, go to the layers palette where it will show you the different action layers applied and tweak any if necessary to fit your style

When done hit Control+Shift+E for PC users and Command+Shift+E for Mac users to flatten your image

Then save it as a copy for your client

Assigning shortcut keys to your favorite actions

When you find your favorite actions, you can assign shortcut keys instead of having to locate them in the action palette each time and hitting play, saving you time.

First click on the action (so it’s highlighted) you would like to favorite and go again to the action menu in the upper right hand corner of the action palette

Select Action Options

Then where the function key says none, click the drop down box and assign it a key or combo of keys

Voila, you can now hit those assigned short cut keys to run the action
